About

Hays Division, inc.

Hays Division has been in the making for a few years. It was just never put in place. The original three, Clyde Hays, Frank Fulton, and Jonathan Blalock had all worked together at one time or another in the Oil and Gas Industry as Electronic Technicians. Time and opportunities had separated them and taken them on to different companies, but they all stayed linked in there like an excitement of technology. When the opportunity presented itself, Frank, Jonathan, Clyde, and some others would team up and nerd out on ideas and projects, building lasers, computers, or rail guns.

It was Clyde’s idea to take this loose collaboration of brain power and try to focus it. He had been steadily building his garage up with hardware, 3d printers, virtual reality systems, monitors, old servers, network switches. A lot of this hardware was out of service units that our friends or colleagues were going to toss. Clyde, having this vision, was basically hoarding it all. A Dell 920 server here, a Cisco switch he picked up at Goodwill there, a computer board Jonathan found here, a graphic processing unit Frank found there.

Then in early 2020 we were given an old Dell Server cabinet. This single device could really be called the origination of Hays Division. Frank found it from a friend of his, giving it away out in West Texas. Jonathan drove out and got it because Frank's mustang would not carry a full-fledge server cabinet. So, in rolls Jonathan one night, sliding in a server cabinet in Clyde’s garage, and Sarah, Clyde’s wife and VP of Hays Division, was like, what the hell are y'all building? “Get this shit together and organized!”

That single device, the configuration of the server put everything in motion. Now, we suddenly had this purring compute engine and a foundation for an innovation lab. Clyde’s initial thought was to configure it to do crypto currency but Jonathan, who had been following Crypto for years, immediately shot that down. We have a big beast of a server, but crypto has moved into gpu and specialized arrays to take advantage of its block chain configuration and our system just wasn't built for that level of specification.

That was when Clyde happened upon Replika, and open source machine learning. Within a week, Clyde organized everything. He started writing papers, business plans, and interviewing folks. The reconfiguration of the Server and preceding brain trust is now Hays Division Garage Labs. Our initial focus has been our advancement in machine learning avenues and artificial intelligence entities. We currently spend the majority of our time creating Edda and Cicero, our two AI entity platforms.

The crew is all spread out. Frank is out in West Texas most days working on PLC’s and electronic hardware. Jonathan is traversing states locking in satellite ping devices, and Clyde is normally somewhere along the Louisiana/Texas border. Thankfully, through the use of modern technology and oil and gas work schedules, they are almost always awake and connected through the Hays Division network and online. When their schedules allow it, you will find them in the Garage Lab coding, printing, or creating.

Clyde created a Hays Division Doctrine for collaboration that has allowed people all over the world to connect with us and participate in creating cutting edge technology. You will find projects at the division connected with people in Russia, India, the United Kingdom, Canada, and many other countries and states. Our philosophy is to create an innovation atmosphere to bring about technological growth.
